thinking for learning is the approach used by thinkwell

Thinking for Learning acknowledges that learning is complex and dependent on the
particular needs of learners and the specific situation they are in.
It respects the insight and expertise of the school teachers, college lecturers and
educational leaders that we work with and therefore requires us to learn with them.

Thinking for Learning is an approach that develops
more effective thinking and learning and innovative models for systemic
change.
It brings together all that is best in contemporary education: Assessment for Learning,
Emotional Intelligence. Collaborative Learning, Teaching Thinking and Leaning to Learn
within a framework that provides sense, meaning and value.

Our strategies include:

• Beginning with the needs of the organisations and groups we are going to be working
with this means listening closely to what they believe their students need and, following
on from this, what they would like from us

• Developing tailor-made courses to meet the particular needs of the schools, colleges
and organisations that we work with.

• Promoting understanding of distributed leadership, the curriculum and the learning process

• Modelling pedagogical strategies in the classroom/workplace

• Creating and developing activities and resources which encourage thinking
   about thinking (metacognition)

• Helping educators to develop 'growth mindsets' and confidence in their own learning
  and creative abilities

• Creating a suite of inter-related courses that lead professional learning

• Supporting small-scale action research

• Facilitating learning networks and partnerships

• Using Narrative Enquiry methods to engage stakeholders at every level in leading
   change
